SCIENCE & RESEARCH
“Every scientist dreams of doing something that can help the world.”
– Tu Youyou, Nobel Prize Winner for Medicine
ZETKIN FORUM
The Zetkin Forum for Social Research (ZF) is a Europe-based platform created to foster international exchange. We strive to facilitate constructive debates between progressive forces worldwide by, on the one hand, disseminating working class and peasant perspectives from the Global South in Europe and, on the other hand, producing analyses from Europe and the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa) for international audiences.
CONFERENCES
„Reading maketh a full man; conference a ready man; and writing an exact man.“
– Francis Bacon
CONFERENCES
Connexus International is committed to meaningful human exchange via the transformative power of a live, participatory, inclusive, knowledge-imparting experience through conferencing, on some of the most urgent issues facing humanity.
Dilemmas of Humanity
Organizations, research institutes and stakeholders address the greatest challenges facing humanity in the 21st century in a series of conferences. Based on the document “A Plan to Save the Planet”, various areas such as labor, environment, food, etc. are examined. Publications are made available to a wide audience.
Food systems
Will be announced soon
This conference will examine how socialist countries managed to provide food for their populations. The goal is to explore the mechanisms of an agricultural system that was neither driven by profit nor based on private ownership of land and means of production.
ARTS & CULTURE
„All of us in the academy and in the culture at large are called to renew our minds if we are to transform educational institutions-and society-so that the way we live, teach, and work can reflect our joy in cultural diversity, our passion for justice, and our love of freedom.“
– bell hooks
EXCHANGE
Arts & Culture are powerful tools to enhance communication and a sense of belonging. Connexus supports projects that foster cultural exchanges to promote tolerance and international understanding.
EDUCATION
„Looking at the past must only be a means of understanding more clearly what and who they [the oppressed] are so that they can more wisely build the future.“
– Paolo Freire – Pedagogy of the Oppressed
The Hobo Dyer World Map
The Hobo-Dyer projection is an “equal area” projection that correctly reflects the relative size of countries, and is conducive to changing outdated geographic perceptions of the Global South and supporting a modern cartography that is “more equitable for all peoples.” Connexus International is committed to supporting progressive education and to contribute to the public discourse on the history and hegemony in the field of cartography and make a variety of maps widely available under a Creative Commons license.
A website presenting maps and content on the topic is currently being build.
HUMAN RIGHTS
„To deny people their human rights is to challenge their very humanity.“
– Nelson Mandela
HUMAN RIGHTS
Connexus International offers support and expertise for our partners in the MENA region, for capacity-enhancing workshops, educational projects that serve their communities, for their work in human rights education, the empowerment and leadership development of women and youth in underresourced and underserved communities.
International Solidarity
„We believe that an individual must endeavor to assume the universalism inherent in the human condition.“
– Frantz Fanon, Black Skin, White Masks
Perspektive Internationale
By translating internationalist works from German into English and from languages of the Global South into German, Perspektive Internationale endeavors to advance the perception and dissemination of positions that are dedicated to the struggle for a solidary world community.
Publications
The first edition of the series of publications by Perspektive Internationale, makes a selection of political essays and poems by the GDR playwright Peter Hacks (1928-2003) available to an international audience for the first time. His writings are not only incisive critiques of the world political events of his time, but also piercing analyses of social conditions that prevailed in both the East and the West. In his examination of the global impacts of these conditions, Hacks always took a strong stance against war and racism and was a staunch proponent for a socialist society. He also regarded Art as having this responsibility.
